Here is an ‘18MY ST3 package Focus ST in the new Hot Pepper Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat. Pictures don’t really do it justice as per usual, but this color looks amazing in the sunlight. This might be my favorite color of any ST/RS.
Here’s another with it next to my Kona Blue FiST:

What is with the panel gap between the hood and bumper (?) on these? Every one I’ve seen has been like that. Did someone screw up the bumper mold or what?
That is a good color, though.

Not sure, I think this is the solution to the much larger gap on the earlier generation. Kinda keeps the style they wanted, without all of the obviousness?

A metallic darker red is the color I’ve always told myself the Focus ST needed and deserved.

Another Kona Blue/Molten Orange!!!

Haha, I spent a while finding one. Ended up having the dealership here in SE Michigan have one brought up from Tennessee. I think it’s a fairly rare combo and I really like it. Just need to get the calipers orange to match.

I was going to order one, but my dealer found one also in Tennessee, and had it here in SC the next day.

There’s a guy in San Antonio who autocrosses a FoST and has a magnet on his hood saying “Yes it’s Closed”.

That’s a really nice color. I’m still fond of white, but this might be equal with Stealth Grey for me.
I’d gladly drive one if I had the option.

Ooooooooohhhhh. Not bad. I do like the triple yellow metallic though. But if I could build one new, I’d heavily consider this.

That is not hood gap. 2013-2014 ones had hood gap, 2015+ ones don’t.

I’ve always been slightly disappointed with both the FiST and the FoST for having a nice array of colors.....but only one or two per year. I mean, I get it, they’re both small potatoes compared to the base models, but how hard can it be to have more than two colors that aren’t grayscale? WHen I ordered my FiST it had molten orange, lime green, performance blue, and I think there was a red? Next model year they dropped the green and the red, IIRC and added magnetic gray. It’s stayed roughly like that ever since - a shade of blue, a bright color, and black, white, gray, and another gray/silver.
Similar story for the FoST. And it’s not fair hot hatchbacks are some of the best cars to buy if you want a retina-searing color that can be seen from space!

I agree with you 110%
I like the colors from both their respective base siblings’ palettes.
The Fiesta ST kind of redeems itself with that orange I affectionately named “Pumpkin Spice Latte”. It reminds me of the Spice Orange Metallic offered on the 2013 Mini Cooper.
I wish Ford offered Bohai Bay Mint (from the regular Fiesta) on the ST. It would look great with Rado Gray wheels as shown on this Fiesta ST from Horizon 3.

Does the paint have the sparkly bits like in the blue?
![]() 07/13/2017 at 22:01 |

Yeah, Ford tends to go beyond on Metallic colored cars.
![]() 07/13/2017 at 22:05 |

Yeah it does. How many colors of Focus/Fiesta ST/RS don’t have them? I’m not actually sure

I’m going to be hated for this, but too bad it doesn’t get another transmission option.

The older ones were way worse, yes, but there is still a distinct gap there not present between any of the other panels. It’s like they needed to make the hood just a little bit longer.

Even though the fost is getting dated I still want one so bad.

I’m not talking about the usual sparkle in Ford’s metallic paint, I mean the Focus RS’s blue paint is extra sparkly, moreso than any other Ford paint I’ve seen.

The molten orange and tangerine scream are pretty crazy. So is the RS blue.
I thought you bought a hot hatch so people couldn’t tell you were fast. That’s why mine is rental car white...

Mine matches up quite well. What you’re seeing is the black rubber between the hood and the bumper due to where the hood ends (for reasons I don’t understand). All other panels you just see paint color because there’s no rubber behind it making it stand out.
This is an SFE with the standard bumper:

Can’t it do both? It truly is all things to all people. Be quiet and subdued, or be loud and brash. It works both ways!
![]() 07/14/2017 at 17:39 |

Oh gotcha. Definitely not to RS blue level, but probably similar to how the sparkle looks on the FiST molten orange?

Interesting choice to put that rubber strip there, as an engineer I’d really like to hear a good reason why.
![]() 07/14/2017 at 21:50 |

I’d bet it’s for aerodynamics...
![]() 07/16/2017 at 13:26 |

Sure, the gap with a rubber strip sealing it is better aerodynamically than just having a large gap, but making the hood a hair longer to meet the bumper correctly would be better than either.

I keep hearing rumors that Ford was going to discontinue the FoSt for a couple years to change plant locations to China. Where did you see this 2018?
![]() 09/19/2017 at 11:55 |

They are moving production of Focus to China as announced, but I believe that is for the new generation. This one is a current gen which will still be made at Michigan Assembly until they retool for Ranger/Bronco as announced.
This was near Dearborn, so definitely a manufacturer vehicle.

Great to hear as I am in the market for one myself. I look forward to seeing these in person. Have you heard much on the release date for these guys?
![]() 09/20/2017 at 17:21 |

Nope, but I’ve seen some Focus-looking prototypes which would mean <2 years + x months for an ST.
